I didn't organize the trees. I just splash painted them and let them be. I got to build the green site and I always thought this was the best three on the property. The material was carved out of the bunkers and pushed up to make a very audacious plateau green site from a very small rise. It was based around a series of greens I had seen in a book about the architecture of Royal Melbourne. Recently I renovated the course and scaled back the bunkering a little.<p></p>Cell (416) 892-4075 http://www.blogger.com/profile/16710209149850373572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9051797183132429300.post-41456489566712355152024-01-26T14:47:00.003-05:002024-01-26T14:47:52.311-05:006th Hole at Osprey Valley (North)<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY9iPj31elXsc-e11LCCUL9rWm5N4cD-RaY5I8mMNp4z9zxpsSZBg4OAASkBah7Qr0ZcLLZ8arpzjnLS8-Q2g1pY3Vd4-X6xOTupxwEVUHJk4wcIqJKGZYl0cJhB48BkUaeyRxqzQbx2d-Qnuzr1kCAwoAYxWn48AOgSjf2ZFkcxtnKbI1MimWKgstvWk/s3714/Osprey%20Valley%206th.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2682" data-original-width="3714" height="462" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY9iPj31elXsc-e11LCCUL9rWm5N4cD-RaY5I8mMNp4z9zxpsSZBg4OAASkBah7Qr0ZcLLZ8arpzjnLS8-Q2g1pY3Vd4-X6xOTupxwEVUHJk4wcIqJKGZYl0cJhB48BkUaeyRxqzQbx2d-Qnuzr1kCAwoAYxWn48AOgSjf2ZFkcxtnKbI1MimWKgstvWk/w640-h462/Osprey%20Valley%206th.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p></p><p>The recently renovated 6th Hole on the North Course at Osprey Valley. The lake was like glass. The far shore and sun were still being hidden by the early morning fog dancing over the lake. It was so beautiful that it inspired Cindy to go practice yoga out on the point. The fog suddenly gave way to the sun. As the sun burned through, it lit up the rest of the remaining fog for only a brief instant. I took a quick photo on my phone. In less than a minute all of this was gone and the usual morning vista had taken its place. I tried to capture what I saw and how I felt in that moment.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi32hC2TrhXfRD_4IsvAcFfTcKdK4Stod21rSyjB03CX49vtrisTuMOktOygseOvBBjvyuCyp3MYCHme9iQQIFDdIzw9XH5FSD0WC_-QpoTbU_FmutKqT7knA1_SEs-opvyZ8nEJ_9PXY1SgCjIzSaPIDJB56CjZ-0jiE-OOI1mrLA6jrI77U1rgOuY/s4032/Kushog%20Lake.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi32hC2TrhXfRD_4IsvAcFfTcKdK4Stod21rSyjB03CX49vtrisTuMOktOygseOvBBjvyuCyp3MYCHme9iQQIFDdIzw9XH5FSD0WC_-QpoTbU_FmutKqT7knA1_SEs-opvyZ8nEJ_9PXY1SgCjIzSaPIDJB56CjZ-0jiE-OOI1mrLA6jrI77U1rgOuY/w640-h480/Kushog%20Lake.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /> <p></p>Cell (416) 892-4075 http://www.blogger.com/profile/16710209149850373572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9051797183132429300.post-66726742648239499562023-02-05T11:49:00.001-05:002024-01-18T09:01:49.097-05:00Sleeping Scout<p><span style="text-align: center;">Best painting I have done to date. I don't paint wet. I wash sections and let it dry completely instead. I like a very detailed sketch which includes my intentions on shadows. I begin with highlights trying to match the colours on the photo. If it's close, the fine tuning after is fairly easy. I use painting gum to protect my white highlights, like the whiskers. This is a typical first pass: the brightest colours, the soft colours and a few specific details that have to be right. We do most of it on the Grand River. This is halfway between Galt and Paris. I took this photo a few years ago and thought it would be an easy and ideal early subject. One of the best holes Stanley Thompson ever built. This is probably the only golf painting that I ever thought was good. It captures the pleasure of playing around dusk. I still find the subtlety of painting landscapes to be very elusive. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjslHuX_-P_rUUJ2PT0qSVMYsv6NcAr9FFHwlbS3V2VEhkxwME_qUFFYFqXMWf-VDwTn1q4kIGQtMitdse3gTszUR2TrC0X1gcqzkRGyph-sRRjdv5jt348e2ZOt3TZiM__X1Hnbz5ubU_OHVGZbgwW1uNGRaA1S7ZMfs07dkD-Si9lLyJKX0iXa8K/s4032/IMG_0058.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjslHuX_-P_rUUJ2PT0qSVMYsv6NcAr9FFHwlbS3V2VEhkxwME_qUFFYFqXMWf-VDwTn1q4kIGQtMitdse3gTszUR2TrC0X1gcqzkRGyph-sRRjdv5jt348e2ZOt3TZiM__X1Hnbz5ubU_OHVGZbgwW1uNGRaA1S7ZMfs07dkD-Si9lLyJKX0iXa8K/w640-h480/IMG_0058.JPG" width="640" /></a></div></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /> <p></p>Cell (416) 892-4075 http://www.blogger.com/profile/16710209149850373572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9051797183132429300.post-29162825941648765412022-02-26T19:41:00.001-05:002023-02-22T08:16:31.695-05:00Rachael Wins Bronze<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This picture is of Rachael Karker, who won a bronze medal in the halfpipe ski competition at the 2022 Olympics in Bejjing. Some of the facial details are really good. But at the time I had no idea how I was going to paint the silver grey of his beard, eye brows and hair.<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjy5p5VcTC1bTIBNU-d34OOAvhUX9M3ixEDaMmCyDf2xNq7Z3UrUQHkyEzcujJ6R5Hd4k8lWnOjwhkUdcCcR2bUb0N30ipZ8wx4wwC8Vlh35Up42oI_BxwiHh9cHWUts_g3aFfkzeBDekOVf39MtFQcMQyp_0w1cb5bSHOXwSbPcgYhlFb9rsgZVX4_/s3401/IMG_E5600.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3401" data-original-width="2708" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjy5p5VcTC1bTIBNU-d34OOAvhUX9M3ixEDaMmCyDf2xNq7Z3UrUQHkyEzcujJ6R5Hd4k8lWnOjwhkUdcCcR2bUb0N30ipZ8wx4wwC8Vlh35Up42oI_BxwiHh9cHWUts_g3aFfkzeBDekOVf39MtFQcMQyp_0w1cb5bSHOXwSbPcgYhlFb9rsgZVX4_/w510-h640/IMG_E5600.JPG" width="510" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"></td></tr></tbody></table><br /> </p>Cell (416) 892-4075 http://www.blogger.com/profile/16710209149850373572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9051797183132429300.post-71025466735840991172021-12-13T19:36:00.001-05:002024-01-18T09:04:20.602-05:00Grey Jay in Winter<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This painting is of a Grey Jay began as a summer composition, but in the middle of painting it, I decided that it should be a winter scene. I had painted a Cardinal gliding over snow a week before and loved the suggestion of flight.
